Kelly Products, a leading provider of essential information and automation solutions to the agribusiness industry, today announced that its Great Estates landscaping division is providing pro bono services for the Veteran’s greenspace next to the court house in downtown Madison. Great Estates’ contribution will continue with no-charge, ongoing landscape maintenance services for the space.
“We were approached by David Hanes about doing some landscaping for the space,” said David West, general manager, Great Estates Landscaping. “Well-maintained spaces instill a sense of pride and we hope this space will reflect the pride our businesses and residents have in this community and all our service members. We are proud to be part of a project that honors our veterans.”
Great Estates donated its labor for installation and the plant material used. David Hanes donated the mulch used for the space.
“My son is a veteran and I know a lot of other young and older veterans in this community, so this project has a lot of personal significance for my family and me,” said Hanes.
Community leaders were supportive of the initiative as well.
“There was no question this project needed to happen,” said Andy Ainslie, chairman, Board of Commissioners. “We were thrilled that both David Hanes and Great Estates wanted to take this on. It’s wonderful to see initiative in honor of our veterans and the service they provide for us all.”
There will be a ceremony to dedicate the space on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11, at 4 p.m. The Color Guard from Morgan County High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC, led by instructors Major Robert Atkins and Master Sergeant Barry Haines, will present the Colors.
“We are pleased to participate in honoring our community’s and our nation’s veterans,” said Major Atkins. “Cadets want to show their appreciation to them for defending our freedoms. This is one small way for them to say ‘Thank You’ for serving our great nation.”
